Abstract

1475659 Protective book jackets G M DU CORDAY 17 Nov 1975 [17 May 1975] 21067/75 Heading B6A A protective book jacket blank comprises a single sheet 10, e.g. of transparent or opaque plastics material, having oppositely disposed, inwardly opening pockets, for the reception of the covers of a book, formed by heat welding flaps 16, 18 to the sheet 10. An off-centre score line 28 is provided in the outer surface of the sheet and has a cross-section, e.g. in the form of a V, such that when the sheet 10 is separated along the line, at least one of the separated parts has a bevelled edge. A double-sided adhesive strip 40, provided with a release strip, is located adjacent the score line 28 for attaching the two separated parts 32, 34 together after their pockets have been located over the covers and the remaining portion of one part 32 has been folded over the book spine to overlap the remaining portion of the other part 34. The bevelled edge provides a snag-free join between the adherered parts.
