Abstract
1475006 Theft alarms A J C SMITH 2 Dec 1975 [13 Dec 1974] 54096/74 Heading G4N An anti-theft device comprises a flat member 29 having adherent surfaces on both sides and a switch 24 attachable by means of member 29 to a surface 26 of an article to be protected, the switch being so arranged that its movable element 27 is held in one position when the switch is attached to the article and is urged to another position to activate an alarm when the switch is removed from the article. As shown, the movable member is a spring biased plunger 27 which projects through an aperture in the member 29 which may be of cardboard or plastics material. The surfaces of member 29 may be pressure adherent or coated with adhesive which may be pressure-sensitive. The switch is embedded in a block 25 of thermosetting resin. The switch 24 is connected to the alarm, Fig. 1 (not shown), by a flexible twincore coaxial cable 12, the two cores and the switch forming a closed loop when the switch is attached to the article. When the switch is removed, the loop is opened and one of the cores is connected to the screen of the cable to give the alarm. A plurality of such devices may be connected to a single alarm via respective cables 12 and a single common cable, Fig. 1 (not shown).
