Abstract

1474046 Nails ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc 16 Dec 1974 [26 Dec 1973] 54274/74 Heading F2H An integral metal fastener for penetrating concrete comprises a head 12 and shank 14, the shank having a polygonal transverse crosssection and sharp longitudinal cutting edges 30 along its entire length, and including a trailing section 24 adjacent the head 12 and an entering section 22, the section 24 having substantially planar sides and parallel edges, the section 22 having edges which converge to a sharp point and at least two sides that are convexly curved, wherein the two sections 22, 24 are approximately equal in length and the head has a cross-section larger than that of the trailing section 24. As described, the transverse dimension of sides 16 is slightly larger than that of sides 18, the cross-section of the shank being preferably rectangular, all four sides of the section 22 being convexly curved.
