Abstract

1471621 Mattresses &c CONWED CORP 15 May 1974 [22 June 1973] 21446/74 Heading A4M [Also in Division B5] A spring cushion structure comprises a plurality of coil or sinuous wire springs 12 covered on one or both main faces by a flexible polyethylene cellular foam insulator sheet 10 or 11 which is less than one inch thick and has a density of less than six pounds per cubic foot, and a cushioning pad 16 over-lying the insulator sheet, the resistance to compression of the insulator sheet being greater than that of the pad 16. The insulator sheet 10 or 11 may be wrapped around a border wire 14 and secured by staples 15. The sheet 10 or 11 may be secured to the pad 16 by adhesive, bag rings, cotton stitching or wire ties. The insulator sheet may be bonded to the springs. The pad 16 may comprise a loosely felted layer of cotton fibre without adhesive enveloped in ticking. The insulator sheet may be disposed over and optionally bonded to a net of polypropylene or cotton.
