Abstract
1470893 Offshore structures; piles; jetting C G DORIS COMPAGNIE GENERALE POUR LES DEVELOPPMENTS OPERATIONNELS DES RICHESSES SOUS-MARINES 11 Oct 1974 [12 Oct 1973 29 April 1974] 44085/74 Headings E1F and E1H An offshore structure comprises a base 1 designed to rest on the bed of a body of water and equipped with at least one watertight compartment arranged around a central opening 11. Water-tight hollow columns 12 extend vertically from the base. A buoyant bridge 3 comprising a portion 24a locatable in the central opening is also provided with openings 15 which enable it to slide along the columns. Pumps and piping 22a progressively flood the water-tight compartment and the columns. Figs. 23, 24 illustrate the anchoring of the structure to the sea-bed by tubular and solid piles 73a, 73b respectively. In Fig. 24 water jets are discharged through openings 82 to remove loose material from the upper strata of the sea-bed.
