Abstract

1470522 Bolster connections ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 19 July 1974 [23 July 1973] 34935/73 Heading B7L A railway bogie comprises a frame 1, 2 supporting a traction bolster 12 by pivoted links 20 and a second bolster 11 supported indirectly from the frame by springs 13 and dampers 14, the second bolster having a depending blade 15 engaging a slot 16 in the traction bolster whereby relative movement between the bolsters is confined to a transverse vertical plane. Links 23 between arms 24, 25 fast with bolsters 12, 11, respectively, prevent relative movement between the bolsters in the longitudinal direction. The blade 15 and slot 16 are provided with renewable wear surfaces 17, 18. As shown in Fig. 2, the resilient coupling 13, 14 is provided between the bolsters 11, 12. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown), two platforms carried from the frame by pivoted links support the lower ends of dampers 14, the upper ends being secured to the bolster 11, the platforms being anchored to the bolster 11 by pivoted arms. A centre circular pivot member 5 is rotatably supported on bolster 11 by bearing surfaces 7, 8, 9. The bogie axles are each driven by a respective electric motor mounted inboard of the associated axle.
