Abstract

791,677. Railway trucks. A C F INDUSTRIES, Inc. June 16, 1955 [Feb. 10, 1955], No. 17363/55. Class 103(6) A railway truck has two wheels W fixed on stub axles 14 which are mounted on journal boxes 12 carried by an axle frame A. The frame has upstanding ears 18 to which rocker arms 22 are pivotally connected, each arm having a pin 24 on which is pivotally mounted an upper spring support 36. This support has two circular pockets to which are secured rubber shear units 30 provided with discs 33 forming the support for the upper ends of springs 34. The lower ends of the springs are retained within supports 50 forming part of the axle frame. The spring support 36 is formed at its ends with ears 38 adapted to receive swing links 40 which support the car body. The body,is provided with stops 46 adapted to contact bumper plates 48 on the axle frame A to limit transverse movement between the truck and the oar body. In a modification the coil springs are replaced by leaf springs. Controlling mechanism for guiding the wheels on the rails at curves, such as described in Specification 791,341 may be used.
