1470100 Wedge presses LANGENSTEIN & SCHEMANN AG 31 May 1974 [8 June 1973] 39473/76 Divided out of 1470099 Heading B3H A power press for metal working comprises a wedge member 104 which acts between a frame member 101 and a ram member 107 to reciprocate the ram member by way of mutually engaged thrust surfaces 103, 108. The thrust surfaces 108 between the wedge member and the ram member are angled slightly to the plane normal to the direction of movement of the ram member. This angle 113 is preferably equal to the angle of friction between the thrust surfaces 108. The wedge is actuated by a screw 106 engaged with a nut 105 captive in the wedge member.
