Abstract
1470099 Presses LANGENSTEIN & SCHEMANN AG 31 May 1974 [8 June 1973] 24187/74 Heading B3H A wedge press for metal working, e.g. forging, comprises a wedge 8 driven between a press ram 5 and a fixed part 11 of the press to reciprocate the ram, the contact surfaces 10 between the wedge and ram and/or the contact surfaces 13 between the fixed part 11 and the wedge being non-planar to improve wedge guiding. The contact surfaces may be of triangular or semicircular shape and extend across the whole width of the wedge, Figs. 2-7 (not shown). Alternatively two parallel triangular or semicircular depressions may be provided, Fig. 8 (not shown), and Fig. 9. The wedge is driven by a threaded spindle (106), Fig. 10 (not shown), with a flywheel. The contact surfaces (108) between the wedge (104) and the ram (107) may be at the angle of friction to the horizontal.
