Abstract
1469648 Liquid flow straightening device for pipe-lines TOKICO Ltd 21 March 1974 [23 March 1973 (2)] 12533/74 Heading F2P A device for straightening the flow of liquids in a pipe-line comprises a hollow cylindrical main structure 21 and flow straightening members therewithin and comprising walls dividing the main structure into a plurality of through passageways parallel to the centre line of the structure the walls being adapted so that frictional resistance due to skin friction is less in the vicinity of the centre line than in other parts of the structure the said resistance increasing progressively with increasing distance from the centre line. In the embodiment of Fig. 2A the passageways are formed by tubes 23, 24, 25 of decreasing diameters but of equal lengths. In Figs. 4A, 4B the tubes are of the same diameters but of decreasing length towards the centre. In Fig. 3A the passageways are formed by plates 33, 34 spaced apart by decreasing distances away from the centre line of the structure but are of equal lengths. In Figs. 5A, 5B (not shown) the plates are spaced at equal distance apart but the passageways decrease in length towards the centre and in Figs. 6A, 6B (not shown) and 7A, 7B (not shown) the passageways vary both in crosssection and in length.
