Abstract

1467332 Milling cutters; reamers F M BATTIATO 19 Feb 1974 [21 Feb 1973] 7473/74 Headings B3K and B3C [Also in Division A5] A milling cutter for producing a cavity in the hip bone for reception of the acetabular part of a hip joint prosthesis (see Divisions A5-A6), comprises a cylindrical stem 26 having a shaft 27 at one end for connection with driving apparatus and eight cutting blades 28 at the other end thereof. The cutting blades form a cutting part having a larger generally partspherical base passing into the larger base of a first generally frusto-conical portion which terminates in the larger base of a second generally frusto-conical portion. An axial bore runs through the cutter for the passage of a guide wire inserted into the pelvic bone in a predetermined position and orientation.
