Abstract
1467227 Concrete beams UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD 25 Jan 1974 [25 Oct 1972] 49179/72 Heading E1W A structure is formed by the incorporation therein of a reinforced concrete beam having at least part of its surface formed by an integral fibre reinforced layer 9 of cement is produced by casting reinforced concrete 5 into a preformed surface reinforcing channel 9 of fibre e.g. asbestos cement which channel 9 acts as a lost formwork in the beam formation, the fibre cement surfacing being only in positions of tensile stress in the structure. The fibre reinforced surface may be provided additionally on the upper surface of the beam if this surface is subjected to tensile stresses.
