146,642. Constantinesco, G. April 14, 1919. Fluid speed indicators; differential speed indicators.--Relates to improvements. in speed indicators of the kind described in Specification 130,367. Instead of the Pivot tube arrangement, a single tube is now employed facing the stream in the pressure direction and a similarly directed tube at a point nearer the axis of the rotating vessel is connected to a small reservoir at a higher level than the rotor for the purpose of maintaining a constant depth in the rotating fluid, the small reservoir being just empty when the vessel is at rest. A pair of shafts may each have an apparatus of this kind fitted the pressure tubes of which lead to a differential indicator 11. to an opposing pair of cylinders 17, 18 controlling an air supply valve 19, to a pair of carburettors, and to a pair of throttle controlling cylinders 22, 25. The rotor is formed of two cup-shaped parts with ribs h to decrease slip of the liquid and is carried on bearings b on the shaft c which carries the two fixed tubes f, g, communicating through bores'in the shaft with the outside connexions. For direct attachment to the rotating shaft the cup a with ribs h is arranged as shown in Fig. 4, and the nozzles arranged along the same radius communicate with bores in a stationary part 2, mounted co-axially with the shaft.
