Abstract

1465357 Loading unloading and transporting bales and articles MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AG GOTTMADINGEN 24 April 1974 [12 May 1973] 17840/74 Heading B8 A vehicle for loading and unloading bales or other articles comprises a pick-up device 4 and conveyer 5 which feeds the bales 18 on to a track 17 along which they are conveyed by conveyer chains 6 having carrier elements 7, which pass over sprockets 9-13 to form a closed chain loop. The chain is driven through an advance gear 16 either continuously or intermittently under the control of a lever 26. The track 17 is divided into two loading lines by boards 23 while guide plates 24 move the bales from one line to the other as they descend the duct 22. In use a picked up bale enters a space between elements 7 which are about at the height of the centre of gravity of the bale above the track 17, when fed by the conveyer 5 and in so doing trips the lever 26 to cause advance of the chain one space between elements 7. The bales advance along the tracks 17 as they are collected stepwise in the path shown until both lanes are full. Unloading is effected over the pulley 13, where the track 17 rises into a chute 25 or on to a conveyer at the front of the vehicle.
