Abstract
1464869 Self-exciting metal electro-deposition YEDA RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd and PROTOTECH CO 20 Feb 1974 56984/73 Heading C7B A metal of lower oxidation potential than hydrogen is electro-deposited on a cathode in a cathode chamber from a solution of a salt thereof by a self-exciting process in which the cathode is externally connected with a hydrogen anode which is separated from the catholyte by a porous barrier through which an acidic solution is flowed from anode to cathode to prevent contamination of the anode with the ions of the metal. Cu or Ag may be deposited from CuSO 4 or Ag acetate in solution in H 2 SO 4 at pH 1À6, the acidic solution also being H 2 SO 4 . Adherent plate may be formed on a Cu plate or Ag mesh cathode respectively. The diaphragm may be sintered glass with flow achieved under gravity.
