1464649 Laminates ANDREW MITCHELL & CO Ltd and PLASTICS (BOLTON) Ltd 6 Nov 1975 [30 Nov 1974] 51961/74 Heading B5N [Also in Division B2] A method of producing a composite material comprises applying polymeric material, e.g. a preformed plasticized polyvinyl chloride film to a stitch-knitted fabric. A stitch-knitted fabric is defined as being a fabric made by laying warp threads as in conventional weaving, laying the weft threads transversely across the warp threads without interlacing and stitching the warp and weft threads together using a warp knitting device, e.g. with twist or chain stitches. The film may be bonded to the fabric by hot calendering with a preformed film of hot melt adhesive. The layer of polymeric material is preferably applied to the smooth face of the fabric. In one embodiment, a layer of polymeric material is applied to each face of the fabric, the first layer applied, which is optionally overlaid by a further layer of the polymeric material, being applied to the smooth face of the fabric.
