1463270 Penicillin preparation ISF SpA 1 Dec 1975 [5 Dec 1974] 49222/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the preparation of 6-(α-aminophenylacetamido)-2,2- dimethylpenam-3-carboxylic acid, wherein 6-(α- hydrazinophenylacetamido) - 2,2 - dimethylpenam - 3 - carboxylic acid of the formula in which the carbon atom marked with an asterisk represents a centre of asymmetry, is, in protected form, catalytically hydrogenated to give 6-(α-aminophenylacetamido)-2,2-dimethylpenam-3-carboxylic acid, which is isolated as such or in the form of its epimers.
