Abstract

1492050 Berlin blue DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 10 Dec 1974 [10 Dec 1973] 53319/74 Addition to 1438064 Heading ClA Berlin blue (ferric ferrocyanide) is produced by reacting calcium ferrocyanide or sodium ferrocyanide, a ferrous salt and an inorganic or organic potassium salt simultaneously at a pH of up to 6 to form Berlin white (ferrous ferrocyanide), the temperature being initially in the range from 20‹ to 60‹ C., and oxidizing the Berlin white to Berlin blue. The reaction to obtain Berlin white may be accelerated by increasing the temperature up to the boiling temperature of the reaction mixture.
