Abstract

1462508 Dispensing closure GEORGE MENSHEN & CO KG and HENKEL & CIE GmbH 13 June 1974 [13 June 1973] 26339/74 Heading B8T A container cap comprises a slidable element 14 which is movable between an open position at which fluid may be delivered from the container via a channel 16, and a closed position at which the flow of fluid is prevented. The neck of the container is sealingly engaged by a closure 1 comprising coaxial flange members 4, 6 connected by an end wall 2 through which passes an outlet bore 10. The slidable element 14 is retained within an outer cover integral with closure 1 and consisting of an end wall 26 and a depending skirt 28. In the closed position shown in Fig. 1, the outlet bore 10 is obstructed by the surface of slidable member 14 which is maintained in this position by a spherical stud 17 engaging an annular flange 12 surrounding the outlet bore. Movement to the open position is effected by digital pressure upon end 22 which brings channel 16 into communication with outlet bore 10. The movement of slidable element 14 between the open and closed positions is limited by a wall 21 and a notch 19 respectively, which engage the outer surface of annular flange 12. In an alternative embodiment, the slidable element is moved by a knob integral therewith, which passes through an elongate aperture in the end wall 26.
