Abstract
1462214 Watch cases CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 12 Aug 1974 [21 Aug 1973] 35441/74 Heading G3T [Also in Division F2] In a wrist watch case, a back, bezel or retainer ring is attached to a case body 3 by means of at least one threaded bore 6 formed by fusing or brazing a metal coil 4 with adjoining turns in a blind bore 1 in one of the elements. A female thread is thus formed in a hard case part e.g. of stainless steel, cemented carbide or ceramics. A stainless steel coil 4 is coated with a fusible material e.g. nickel phosphide and forced in the bore 1 which is coated with nickel or silver. The element is then heated in a non-oxidizing furnace to 1100C. As shown, threaded bores 6 are thus formed in a bezel 2, and screws 5 are passed through holes 6' in the body 3 to attach the bezel and a glass 7 thereto; a gasket 8 waterproofs the joint. In other embodiments the threaded bores are in the body 3 and receive screws which pass through a back (10), Fig. 6 (not shown) or a back retaining ring (14), Fig. 7 (not shown). Alternatively the back is itself threaded and screwed into a female thread in the rear of the body 3 Fig. 8 (not shown).
