Abstract

1461432 Welding by pressure SIV DELIXT SpA 25 June 1974 28030/74 Heading B3R A welding machine includes a framework 1, 2, 3 a first carriage 4 supported by the framework for movement relative thereto in a first direction X, a second carriage 6 supported by the first carriage 4 for movement relative thereto in a second direction Y normal to the first direction X, a support member 8 supported by the second carriage 6 for movement relative thereto in a third direction Z normal to both the first and second directions X, Y, a head 11 supported by the support member 8 for rotation relative thereto about a first axis of rotation a, a support 12 mounted on the head for rotation relative thereto about a second axis of rotation b normal to the first axis of rotation a and a welding device 15 carried by the support 12 for rotation relative thereto about an axis of rotation c normal to the second axis of rotation b. In an embodiment the framework is formed by legs 1, longitudinal members 2 and cross members 3 and the first carriage 4 is slidable along the members 2 by a motor 5, the second carriage 6 is slidable on the carriage 4 by a motor 7 and the support member 8 is vertically slidable in the carriage 6 by a motor 9. The head 11 is rotatably supported at the foot of the member 8 and carries three rotatable supports 12, 13, 14 each carrying a spot welding gun 15, 16, 17 rotatable in its support. In a box 10 at the top of the member 8 are geared motor sets 18, 19 which rotate, through universal joints 20, 21 two shafts 22, 23 extending along the length of the member 8 and a motor for rotating the head 11. The shaft 23 carries a gear 24 which rotates a gear 25 and through idler gear 28, gears 26, 27. The gear 27 drives, through a clutch 43, bevel gears 29 which through a shaft 30, bevel gear 31, screw 32 and gear 33 causes rotation of the support 12 about axis b. The shaft 22 carries a gear 34 which rotates a gear 37 and through an idler 38 two gears 35, 36. The gear 37 drives, through a clutch 45, bevel gears 39 which through a shaft 40 and bevel gears 41 causes rotation about axis c of the welding device 15 carried on a shaft 42. Rotation of the other supports about axes corresponding to b and c is similarly effected by the shafts 22, 23. Each clutch 43, 45 comprises a sleeve having teeth at both ends mounted slidably but non-rotatably on a shaft so as to be brought into engagement with the teeth on the end of shafts terminating in gears 27, 37 or with teeth on nuts 49 fixed to the head 11. A mechanically, hydraulically or electromagnetically operated holding tool may replace one of the welding devices and the machine may include only one welding tool. Electrical signal transmitters are provided to indicate the position of each support and in conjunction with a programmer control displacement of the machine.
