Abstract

1460330 Polyisobutene derivatives LUBRIZOL CORP 24 Oct 1974 [7 Nov 1973] 46051/74 Heading C3P [Also in Divisions C5 and C2] A compound of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a mono- or polyhydroxy-substituted aromatic, alkyl mono- or polyhydroxysubstituted aromatic, (substituted alkyl) mono- or polyhydroxy-substituted aromatic radical, R<SP>2</SP> is H or C 1-7 alkyl or C 1-7 hydroxy alkyl, R<SP>3</SP> is hydroxy C 1-7 alkyl or where R<SP>4</SP> is a C 1-7 alkylene radical, R<SP>5</SP> is H or C 1-7 alkyl or hydroxy C 1-7 alkyl radical and R<SP>6</SP> is a hydroxy C 1-7 alkyl radical, and x is the valence of R<SP>1</SP> is used in a fuel composition (see Division C5). In Examples 4 and 5 the compound is prepared as a xylene or mineral oil solution by heating and distillation off of water from polyisobutene substituted phenol, diethanol amine and paraformaldehyde.
