Abstract
1460172 Packages; pouches HOY CARBIDES Ltd 25 March 1974 13137/74 Heading A4G [Also in Division B8] A package comprises a flat pocket 13, a flat sheath 18 adapted to receive the pocket and an inter-connecting portion 20 connecting the pocket and the sheath, the pocket 13, sheath 18 and interconnecting portion 20 being made of flexible sheet material and so arranged that an article to be packaged can be inserted in the pocket 13 which can then be removably inserted in the sheath 18. The length of the pocket 13 and of the sheath 18 being such that when the pocket 13 is wholly inserted in the sheath 18 a fold is formed across the pocket. The package is formed of a first sheet of the outline shown in Fig. 1 and two further sheets secured respectively around the edges 10, 11, 12 and 15, 16, 17 to form respectively the pocket 13 with an opening 14, and the sheath 18 with an opening 19. The flexible sheet material may be a transparent thermoplastics the edges of the three pieces being secured, e.g. by welding. In use an article to be packaged is inserted in the pocket 13 and the latter is inserted in the sheath 18. The first sheet folding about the line 21. Information may be printed on the pocket 13 and sheath 18 and a weld line 22 across the sheath 18 joining the two pieces of material may limit the insertion of the pocket 13 in the sheath 18, any printing being provided on the portion 23 of the sheath 18. Alternatively, a pre-printed slip may be introduced inside the bottom lower sheath portion 23 either through a slit 29, or through an unsealed edge portion 25. The package may be used to package machine tool cutting inserts and the portion 23 could carry suitable colour coding, &c. The sheath 18 is preferably in the form of a pouch as shown, it may however, comprise a sleeve open at both ends.
