1460035 Animal feeding device OLI-SYS TEM AB 19 Dec 1973 [4 Jan 1973] 58921/73 Heading AIM A poultry feeding device comprises a conveyor belt 2, extending along a row of cages or through an enclosure, adapted to carry food on its upper run 4 and its lower run 6 said runs being partly positioned in troughs (not shown). Food is supplied to the upper run 6 from a container 16, through which the belt 2 travels, and is caused to fall to run 6 by a transferring member 26 formed with an inverted V-shaped groove through which the belt 2 passes. A similar transferring member 28 is so positioned to move remaining food from the run 6 and onto a channel 30 containing a conveyor screw 32 which takes the food back to the container 16. The belt 2 is driven by a driving wheel 8 and passes around a pulley 12 at the end remote from the wheel 8. Container 16 varies the supply of food to the belt with a sliding lid 22. Another embodiment allows a relatively great distance between the upper and lower runs wherein instead of being removed by member 26, food tips off the end of the belt 2 into a hopper which discharges onto the lower surface. The belt 2 is driven fast at the outset, to prevent the animals feeding, and then stopped. The lower run 6 is used merely to return food, or as another feeding surface.
