Abstract

1460025 Lamp posts ABACUS ENG Ltd 27 June 1974 [8 Sept 1973] 42322/73 Heading E1B A street lighting column comprises a base 1 (shown in phantom) pivotally supporting at 3 an upper section 2, the arrangement being such that the upper section has to be lifted relative to the base before it can be pivoted and a plate 8 is pivoted at an end of the pivot axis which can be turned to co-operate with a lug 9 to support the upper section in its raised position. A double-acting piston and cylinder raises and pivots the upper section. The lower part 2a of the upper section is telescopically mounted on base 1. The base has a shaft comprising the pivot, the ends of the shaft extending through elongate slots in part 2a. The shaft pivotally supports the plates 8. The plate may co-operate with a second lug 10 (Fig. 1) to prevent the upper section from being lifted until the plate has been turned. A lock pin 11 is provided.
