Abstract

1459743 Laminates F R PEGG 7 Feb 1974 [9 Nov 1972] 51677/72 Heading B5N [Also in Division F3] A shield for positioning over a bomb, for example, comprises a flexible blanket of woven high strength material. The shield may be provided with a cover 2, Fig. 2, straps 3 and corner handles 4, and has layers 10, Fig. 3, of woven ballistic nylon, for example, the strands or threads 11, Fig, 4, of each layer being at an angle relative to the strands or threads of the adjacent layer in a progressive manner. Each layer may be reinforced by high tensile woven metal wire e.g. wire mesh. The straps 3 are attached to the shield so as to form a skirt la which affords additional protection against the bomb.
