Abstract

1459519 Packaging apparatus SIG SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES 12 July 1974 [13 July 1973] 30877/74 Heading B8C Apparatus for wrapping articles 1 in a fold box 2 has a feed pusher 8 following a closed path 29, 29<SP>1</SP> which thrusts each article against a web of wrapping foil 3 and then clamps the foil between the article and a resiliently mounted collecting pusher 32 as the article and foil are pushed through box 2. Pushers 8 and 32 are driven in the same direction at almost the same speed when they operate to clamp the foil and article so that each article enters the box 2 without a pause. Pusher 8 is carried on bar 10 driven by co-axial cams 27, 27<SP>1</SP> via respective followers 25 and bars 21 and two-armed levers 12, 14 and 13, 50 pivoted at 15, arms 12, 13 being connected to bar 10 by a parallelogram linkage as shown. Pusher 32 is reciprocated in synchronism with pusher 8 by cam 40 through the linkage 36, 44, 33. Articles 1 of different length l<SP>1</SP> may be accommodated by rotating cams 27, 27<SP>1</SP> on their shaft 28, the articles being carried along feed track 4 by bars 5 between endless chains 6. A single three-armed lever may replace levers 12, 14 and 13, 50. Another version of the apparatus omits pusher 8 and its linkage, and articles are carried right up to resilient pusher 32 by drive bars mounted on arms carried by the chains 6.
