Abstract
1456054 Overhead cranes on ships FREDRIKSSTAD MEK VERKSTED AS 27 Sept 1974 42107/74 Heading B8B A crane for a ship comprises a fixed horizontal crane beam 2 shown mounted transversely of the ship (represented by parts 7, 7 of the superstructure which has access openings (not shown) on either side) with a cantilever crane beam 8 at each end pivotable upwardly into an inoperative position, Fig. 2 (not shown). A load carriage 20 can move along the crane beams 2, 8 under the action of a motor 28 and hauling wire 25 and has a hoisting wire 30 supporting a hook 40 in a sling 38 operated by a winch 35, 36. The wires 25, 30 have loops extending out to pulleys 26, 31, 33 at the respective outer ends of the beams 8 and run beneath guiding pulleys 24 at the pivoting ones 10 of the beams 8. The carriage 20 can thus travel on the beam 2 independently of the angular position of one or both cantilever beams 8.
