Abstract
1455313 Inductors and transformers TAIYO YUDEN KK 23 Jan 1974 [23 Jan 1973 1 March 1973] 03239/74 Heading HIT A device for compensating for pincushion distortion in electron beam deflection apparatus comprises a magnetic core, symmetrical about a plane, the core having as a portion a closed magnetically saturable loop and having at least one further portion projecting from the loop to form an air gap in the core, and further comprises first and second windings on respective parts of the loop on opposite sides of the plane and connected together to produce similarly directed magnetic fluxes in the loop when these windings are energized, and third and fourth windings on respective parts of the loop on opposite sides of the plane and connected together to produce opposed magnetic fluxes in the loop when these windings are energized. In Fig. 4, the loop is circular and the further portion 2 extends along a diameter to leave the air gap 3. In Fig. 7, the loop 1 is formed from two drums joined along a cut portion of their flanges 2 (Fig. 8, not shown), the flanges 2 providing the air gap 3. In a further embodiment (Fig. 9, not shown) flat-bottomed dishes (H) replace the flanges 2 shown in Fig. 7.
