Abstract
1455084 Junction circulators RCA CORPORATION 25 Jan 1974 [30 April 1973] 03569/74 Heading H1W In order to prevent propagation of transverse electric and magnetic modes in a conductively enclosed microstrip junction circulator, a conductive connection is provided between the centre of the junction and a wall of the enclosure. As shown, a metal post 51 is provided between the central planar resonator 41 of the junction and a wall 23 of metal capsule 13 enclosing the circulator. The circulator comprises an alumina substrate 36 bearing strip branch-conductors 33a, 33b, 33c and a ground plane 31 which rests on the base of the capsule. A central circular aperture in the substrate accommodates a ferrite element 35 which supports the junction elements 41, 43a, 43b, 43c. Soldered bridge pieces 71 connect the junction to the branches 33. A central aperture in the base of the capsule accommodates a magnet 27.
