Abstract

Gas cooking-stoves.-A stove shown in plan in Fig. 3 consists of front and back frames a and a<1>, having channelled vertical corner posts band b<1> which engage with the side plates f and g forming an air space between them. The plate f is made from compressed asbestos sheeting, and the inner plate g of enamelled or tinned iron. The back of the frame a is closed by a sheet of compressed asbestos j, and a similar sheet m, which may be provided with a glass panel for inspectional purposes, closes the space in the door frame k. The structure is held together by transverse bolts and nuts d, d', which also support the oven shelves. Two central gas-burners are used, one below the bottom shelf e, which is cut away at e' to allow the heated gas to pass through the oven, and the other immediately below the hot-plate at the top of the oven, which has depending flanges for engaging the front and back frames and the side plates. The gases escape through holes in the asbestos sheeting f. The upper shelves are preferably made of iron wire or perforated sheets. In an alternative construction, the products of combustion pass under the bottom shelf and between the space formed between the sheets f, g.
