Abstract

1452650 Mixture of alkyne compounds E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 23 Dec 1974 [27 Dec 1973 4 Oct 1974] 55606/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division C7] An aqueous solution of a mixture of alkyne compounds having the general formula wherein x = 0 or 1; m + n = 0, 1 or 2 and x + w + n = 0, 1 or 2; M is hydrogen, sodium, potassium or nickel, with at least 50 mole per cent of the mixture being asymmetrical alkyne sulphonic acid compounds and less than 50 mole per cent being other alkyne compounds, is prepared by reacting propylene oxide with 2-butyne-1,4-diol in the presence of a BF 3 catalyst, reacting the product thereof with epichlorohydrin and reacting the product thereof with sodium sulphite. The novel solution may be used as a primary brightener additive for acid nickel electroplating baths.
