Abstract
1451842 Transformer or inductor SIEMENS AG 6 Feb 1974 [7 Feb 1973] 05412/74 Heading H1T A transformer comprises a ferromagnetic multilimbed core with at least one limb bearing a winding, and only such winding-bearing limbs having an air-gap, said winding having at least one inner layer of litz wire. One embodiment comprises two end-opposed E-shaped ferrite core members the centre arms of which, being shorter than the outer arms, result in the centre limb having an air-gap 2. A winding 3 surrounds this gap, said winding having its inner layers 4 of litz wire, the outer layers being of solid wire. A further embodiment comprises two U-shaped ferrite core members Fig. 2 (not shown) spaced apart by a ferrite plate (5). The width of the gap 2 may be between 1À5 and 3À5 mm. The or each winding may embrace more than one air-gap.
