Abstract

1450767 Supporting railway track G MOLYNEUX 11 Sept 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 45877/72 Heading E1G A heavy duty rail track assembly, comprising a rail 15 secured (as by fastenings 34 and pads 33) to one or more longitudinal sole plates 30 wider than the rail, is supported above a concrete foundation 11 by a narrow central strip of high strength epoxy mortar 50. In the laying method illustrated (a) a shallow depression 10 is cut in the concrete 11, (b) the assembly 30/15 is laid on foam rubber pads 47 and is levelled by anchor bolts 45, and (c) the mortar strip 50 is injected through holes 48. In a modification, Figs. 1-3 (not shown) incorporating superposed sole plates (20, 30) and suitable for a described method of relaying a defective rail track, a narrow epoxy mortar strip (24) is laid in a cut-out foundation depression (10) to support a lower narrow sole plate (20) which has been spaced and levelled above the foundation by bolts (21) and strips (23), whereafter the rail/ sole plate assembly (15/30) is pulled down on to the lower sole plate (20) by anchor bolts (28); the space around and beneath the upper sole plate may then be filled by inexpensive cement grout (40). Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1343782.
