1445424 Locks A M TAYLOR 17 Sept 1974 [21 June 1973] 29614/73 Heading E2A A lock comprises a slidable bolt 29 within a case 10, a locking member, a ball 35, releasable by a key 59 which is used, to pull the bolt into the releasing position. The case 10 has a bore 15 for the bolt 29, the movement thereof being limited by a transverse pin 27 projecting partly from the case into a recess 32 in the bolt. The latter has air internal slidable plunger 39 which is movable by the key against the action of a spring 41 and is then turned through 90‹ to align a recess 42 in the bolt with the ball 35 which projects from a notch in a bush 28 in the case into an aperture 34 in the case. A plate 36 projecting inwardly of the bolt engages a slot 62 in the key whereby when the key is pulled the bolt is withdrawn as the ball engages the recess 42 and disengages from the bush 25. To release the lock the key which has an end portion 61 engaging a recess in the plunger 39, is pushed to move the bolt into the case; the key is then withdrawn and the plunger rotates through a right angle under spring action, the ball 35 holding the bolt in the extended position. Plunger movement is limited by a transverse pin 37 projecting from the bolt into a recess 43 in the plunger. The casing has holes 20, 21 for securing the lock to a door; the holes may be replaced by apertured side parts. The striker may have a pin for mounting in a hole in the door frame.
