Abstract

1445191 Inflatable liferafts; relief and topping up valves DUNLOP Ltd 10 April 1974 [18 April 1973] 18624/73 Heading B7U To prevent the accumulation of carbon dioxide within a liferaft, a relief and topping up valve 26 located on the inboard side of one of the raft's buoyancy tubes 30 is surrounded by a cover 27 having a passageway with an exit 28 at or towards the outboard side of the raft so that any discharged gas is directed away from the raft's interior. To permit access to the valve the cover 27 may be attached by readily releasable fastenings, e.g. press studs, to the surface of the buoyancy tube. In one construction of the cover, a rectangular piece of material is folded in half, three of the abutting edges are joined together and a hole is cut in the so formed sleeve to receive the exposed portion of the valve.
