Abstract

1,102,643. Lifeboats. SURROUNDING SOUND Inc. 11 Jan., 1966 [11 Jan., 1965], No. 1345/66. Headings B7A, B7S and B7V. [Also in Division F4] A buoyant lifesaving vessel comprises a substantially oblate spheroidal body 10 having a top portion 11 lying above a midship stabilizer vane 12, a bottom portion 13 below the midship stabilizer vane, an underwater stabilizer 14 extending outwardly in the form of a truncated cone, a substantially annular, inwardly facing seating bench 30, a substantially annular outwardly facing seating bench 40 and air inlet and exhaust means on the hyperdome 75 of the body. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, a toilet compartment 50 and an outboard propeller unit 73 are provided. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the toilet compartments and propulsion means are omitted. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the underwater stabilizer is in four-sections arcuate in plan and the propeller rotates at a location above the bottom edges of these stabilizer sections.
