Abstract
1444463 Photographic silver halide colour development EASTMAN KODAK CO 17 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 02204/74 Heading G2C A photographic silver halide material is developed with an aqueous alkaline colour developer solution in the presence of a nitro-substituted benzoic acid in an amount at least sufficient to reduce fog. The substituted benzoic acid may be 2,4-, 3,4-, 2,5-, or 3,5-dinitro-, 2,4,6-trinitro- or o-, m-, or p-nitro-benzoic acid. The substituted benzoic acid is preferably in the colour developer solution but may be in the silver halide emulsion or an adjacent layer. Colour couplers may be in the material or colour developer solution. The substituted benzoic acid is especially effective in reducing magenta and yellow fog and, to a lesser extent, cyan fog and does not reduce development speed.
