Abstract

1444441 Pelletizing ASSOCIATED PORTLAND CEMENT MFG Ltd 1 Aug 1974 [1 May 1973] 20581/73 Heading B5A Particulate solid material is pelletized by rolling a supply thereof on a rotative inclined surface together with solid material acting as nuclei, accompanied by pelletizing liquid, the solid material acting as nuclei being fed to the surface separately from the solid material to be pelletized, and the ratio by weight of the two said feeds corresponds to that size of pellet which the rotating surface produces when the process yields pellets of substantially uniform size in a continuous and stable manner. Coal lumps acting as nuclei are fed from a supply 1 via a weighfeeder 2 to an inclined rotary surface 3 accompanied by pelletizing liquid 9 supplied via a meter 10; coal powder 4 pre-wetted with water 7 supplied through a meter 8 in a prewetting mixer 16, and additives 4<SP>1</SP> fed by weighfeeders 5 and 6 respectively, are also fed to the surface 3 to provide pellets formed from the nuclei. The latter may be supplied to a clear zone on the surface or the nuclei is prepared from particulate material in a separate dish pelletizer.
