Abstract
1444250 Double glazing units CARL-ZEISSSTIFTUNG [trading as JENAER GLASWERK SCHOTT & GEN] 19 Dec 1973 [23 Dec 1972] 58857/73 Heading C1M A double glazing assembly comprises a window frame 1 and two or more spaced apart parallel glass panes 5, 6 in the frame 1 and a transparent thin foil 4, in the space 2, 3 between adjacent panes, disposed parallel to the panes, the thin foil 4 being capable of reflecting infra-red radiation by being coated on one or both sides with a metal or non-metallic coating which reflects infra-red radiation. Metals suggested are gold and aluminium and a non- metallic coating of indium oxide. The spaces 2, 3 are preferably filled with a gas at atmospheric pressure whose heat conductivity is lower than that of air. Krypton, xenon, argon, N 2 O and methyl chloride are given as examples.
