Abstract

1444072 Methanol-assimilable bacteria SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 16 Jan 1974 [17 Jan 1973] 2101/74 Heading C6F [Also in Divisions A2 and C3] A process for producing proteinaceous material involves cultivating a methanol-assimilable strain of Pseudomonas utilis or Pseudomonas inaudita in a nutrient medium containing methanol as a carbon source and recovering the protein-containing biomass from the fermentation medium. The cultivation is carried out under aerobic conditions at temperatures between 20‹ and 40‹C, pH's between 5 and 9, and under minimal methanol concentrations (specified). The cells are rich in glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine and leucine.
