Abstract
1326582 Microbiological production of protein ESSO RESEARCH and ENG CO 20 Nov 1970 [15 Dec 1969] 55341/70 Addition to 1231058 Heading C6F Micro-organism cells of high protein content are produced by cultivating one or more of the following strains of micro-organism, under aerobic conditions, in an aqueous nutrient medium containing a source of nitrogen and methanol as the sole source of carbon viz: at a temperature in the range 20‹-65‹C and p H 5.5-8.5, and harvesting the cultivated cells. These may then be killed by heat pasteurizing at 121‹C for at least 30 minutes or spray-drying, or contacting them with acetone, ether or hexane, and the protein may be extracted from them.
