Abstract

1442582 Wheeled toys CHOU CHIU TUNG and LAM KAI WAH [trading as TUNG HOI PLASTIC CO] and FRED KEW & CO Ltd 30 Jan 1975 4140/75 Heading A6S A wheeled toy that is kept upright by a counterweight comprises a body 1, e.g. shaped as a car, an axle 3 removably attached at two points to the body and rotatably carrying a wheel 2 between the two points, and a counterweight 8, e.g. of lead enclosed within a plastics holder 9, fixed to the axle 3 also between the two points, such that the centre-of-gravity of the body 1, axle 3 and counterweight 8 lies below the level of the axle 3 and such that the toy is stable with respect to being tilted in the direction of the axle 3. Preferably a single hollow wide wheel 2 made in two halves has the counterweight 8 within and the axle 3 is rectangular, force fitting into stubs 4a, 4b outside the wheel 2 and a rib 11 integral with the holder 9. Extensions 6a, 6b of the stubs 4a, 4b engage in corresponding holes in the sides 7a, 7b of the body 1, the stubs and body being of resiliently deformable plastics material for ease of assembly and to allow interchange of various different bodies. As an alternative the single wide wheel 2 could be replaced by two, one on each side of the counterweight 8.
