Abstract
1441273 Continuous casting I PROPERZI 20 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 29348/73 Heading B3F [Also in Division F2] A wheel-and-band casting machine has at least one coolant manifold 7, Fig. 3, at the inside and at least one manifold 11, Fig. 4, at the outside of the casting wheel rim 2 along the arc covered by the band 3, and valves 17, 17<SP>1</SP> for regulating the flow of liquid, from the manifolds to the spray nozzles 6, 10, one for each nozzle 10 or each pair of nozzles 6. Valve members 18 extend transversely of the nozzle axes and each has a screwdriver slot 24 at the end of a screwthreaded stem 21. The stem 21 of each valve 17 extends outside the manifold body 7 and a knob 23 is mounted frictionally on it to indicate the number of turns when setting the member 18 by use of the slot 24. A series of nozzles may be provided at the sides of the wheel to cool the rim from the side.
