Abstract

1440993 Inking in printing machines ROLAND OFFSETMASCHINENFABRIK FABER & SCHLEICHEB AG 22 Aug 1973 [22 Aug 1972] 39822/73 Heading B6C An inking apparatus has a longitudinal ink container 40 from which ink is passed via individual pumps to a plurality of rotating cup-like discs 47 and ejected through slots 57, which are adjustable in size, on to a forme inking roller 58. The ink may be transferred by a screw as shown in Fig. 5 which is driven at a variable speed by drive band 54 whilst disc 47 is driven at constant speed by drive band 49. The disc may be surrounded by a shield 44 and have doctor blades acting on a plane upper surface of a flange to remove excess ink. In another embodiment ink is fed from the container via a conduit into the bowl of the disc by means of a gear pump. The container and other surfaces may be heated to maintain the ink in a fluid state and a stirrer can be incorporated in the container.
