Abstract

1440866 Two-part rotating couplings DAYCO CORP 24 April 1974 [4 June 1973] 17929/74 Heading H2E A releasable hose connector assembly comprises a hose 35 with electric conductors 53 fixed therealong, a connector 40 fixed at the end of the hose, a respective conductive band 52 connected to each conductor 53 and extending around the connector 40, the latter being connectable to a connector 23 mounted on the cleaner tank to permit relative rotation between the connectors 40, 23 with the bands 52 mated to contacts 51 of the connector 23. Each band 52 is continuous through 360‹, has a projection 57 by which it is connected to a respective conductor 53 and is embedded in the connector 40, the latter being moulded around the bands after they are connected to the conductors and including an annular flange 43. The connector 23 comprises spaced resilient L-shaped projections 44 and two conductive bands 46, 47 each having spring contacts 51 adapted to mate with the bands 52 on connection when the flange 43 is engaged by the projections 44 to allow the connector 40 and the hose to rotate. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, the connector (40A) comprises a preformed central fitting (63A) and the bands (52) are seated in grooves (66A, 67A) before being connected to the conductors (53) and having material moulded therearound to complete the connector (40A).
