Abstract

1440833 Rabbles for rotary hearth furnaces SALEM CORP 19 Oct 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 48881/73 Heading F4B A rabble supported within a rotary hearth furnace comprises a face 17, and side walls 15 and 16 enclosing a substantially W-shaped fluid conduit 11 having an inlet 12 and an outlet 13. The face and side walls comprise plates of heat resisting metal welded together and the conduit 11 is welded to the face plate. Lugs 19 and 20 on the conduit and side walls engage refractory material packed into the box defined by said face plate and side walls. In a modification (Figs. 6-9) the plates are omitted and the fluid conduit with lugs on its walls is embedded in settable refractory. Another modification (Figs. 10-13) omits the refractory, the conduit being disposed within a metal box defining front and side walls.
