Abstract

1,200,912. Refractory bricks. KAISER ALUMINUM & CHEMICAL CORP. 14 July, 1967, No. 32485/67. Heading F4B. A wedge-shaped refractory block 11, particularly for use in the lining of a rotary kiln furnace has a recess groove 20 in one side face 17 and a protuberance 21 on the opposite side face 18 of form and location complementary to that of the recess 20 such that adjacent lining blocks 11 in the furnace may interlock to form the lining. Alternatively (Figs. 3 and 4), the protuberance may take the form of one or more hemispherical shaped bosses (28) and the recess takes the form of one or more complementary shaped hemispherical recesses (29). A thermal expansion allowance strip 23 of asbestos or a combustible material such as paper or cardboard attached to the face 17, together with a spacer strip 24 made of steel or asbestos space apart adjacent blocks 11. Further strips 27 of asbestos may be interposed between the strips 23, 24, as shown. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,091,163.
