Abstract

1439685 Agitator mills; mixing apparatus; centrifugal separator G R SCHOLD 14 Nov 1973 [6 Dec 1972] 52827/73 Headings B1C, B2A and B2P An agitator mill has an internal media separator 20, Fig. 5 comprising a two-part sieve 80 arranged in grooved upper and lower flanges 92, 82 and secured by nuts 84, 86. The sieve is readily removed by opening a hand hole 110 in the casing and loosening the nuts, without removing the shaft from the vessel. A cleaning drain 130 Fig. 1 in the bottom of the mill may include a valve 132 and has a sieve element 134 to prevent the media change of e.g. steel shot dropping out. There is also an opening 136 to permit removal of the media change. The mill has .the usual heat control jacket 24 and is driven by a variable speed motor 42. The shaft is sealed in known manner with a rotating face seal 68 Fig. 5 and stationery face seal 70.
