143,875. Myrtin, S. M. May 27, 1919, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. V-slot and like blade sharpeners.-A sharpener for knives &c. comprises two or more circular or elliptical sharpening - members 1 of emery, carborundum, stone, metal, &c. arranged side by side in staggered relationship so that their peripheries overlap to form the sharpening-V, and mounted in coverings 2 having a part removed to expose the sharpening-members and formed with guide-edges 7. The sharpening-members are pressed outwardly by means of springs 4 in the coverings, and the coverings have projecting strips or flanges 3 for attachment to a holder. One sharpening- member may be stationary and the other yieldingly mounted: the sharpener may be applied to the sharpening of scythes, in which case projecting fingers are provided on the coverings for protection of the hand.
